John Mellencamp & Stephen King…

What do these two have in common?

A musical!

Yep! John Mellencamp and Stephen King are working together on a gothic musical!  Ghost Brothers of Darkland County will premiere in Atlanta next April.

The script, written by Stephen King, is based on the true story of a tragedy that took the lives of two brothers and a beautiful young girl in 1957 in a tiny Mississippi town.

John Mellencamp is in charge of the original music for the show. Apparently, it has a rootsy blues feeling designed to highlight the suspense of Stephen King’s script.

Mellencamp also said that he would record and release an album featuring tracks from the musical sung by Kris Kristofferson, Elvis Costello and Roseanne Cash.

If you are interested in a trip to Atlanta next year, Ghost Brothers of Darkland County opens on April 4, 2012 and runs through May 13. Additional information can be found on Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre website.
