Skijoring!

Have you ever heard of skijoring?! I hadn’t until this morning and I seriously think that in all this snow, it might be the best way to get around town!

There is a GREAT ARTICLE in the Ottawa Citizen today about it, but here is a little “exposé” on the sport of skijoring:

From the Norwegian word skikjøring meaning ski driving, skijoring is a winter sport where a person on skis is pulled by a horse, a dog (or dogs) or a motor vehicle.

Most people in & around Ottawa (apparently Canada’s hotbed for skijoring) practice skijoring with their pooches by harnessing the dogs to a piece of rope tied to the owners waist, who then hops on cross crountry skis — voila! Skijoring!

There are skijoring lessons in the city — I am going to try to interview a place for the Night Cap and will post the interview online on ezrock.com!

In the mean time — check out this GREAT ARTICLE  and enjoy a good workout for you and your pooch! It might be your only way around town this morning!
