McDonald’s vs McCurry

McDonald’s lost a lawsuit in Malaysia last week after an appeals court overruled a decision that its trademark had been infringed by a local restaurant called McCurry. Up until now, we assumed that McDonald’s had a monopoly in the use of the prefix ‘Mc’ — but it looks like a judge in Malaysia proved otherwise!!!

McCurry, a small restaurant that serves Indian fast food in Kuala Lumpur as well as Malaysian dishes such as fish head curry said that it’s named was not taken from the fast food superstar, but is short for “Malaysian Chicken Curry,”.
